message parrotparade about this ad Rita is about 16 years old based on historical data. She is a chill lady who will happily stand pretty much wherever you put her. She has laid eggs so is definitely female, can talk, is easily moved place to place with a perch but will also stand on my arm when she feels like it, and takes food gently from my hand. She hasn't wanted me to pet her, but I think with time she will want to. She's been great around the other macaws with no signs of aggression even on a stand together with a younger, more active bird. Rita tends to like women more than men, but really anyone that approaches her with calm energy she seems to be alright with. Macaws are not a great choice for a beginning parrot keeper.
