Rosie is a beautiful 5 year old standard labradoodle. Her mother is a Labrador and her is a poodle. She is tall with long legs but weighs only a bit over 40 pounds. She is agile and loves to run, chase squirrels (she has never caught one) and play fetch. Rosie is affectionate; she wishes she were a lap dog. She is very attentive to her adults and is often by our sides. She is super smart and can open doors with lever handles both inward and outward. Rosie is healthy, neutered, up to date on her shots and has a chip.
Rosie is very protective of her people and will bark whenever anyone enters our yard. She will harass delivery people and others she does not know and I fear that she might bite someone. She is fine with friends after she recognizes them. She has never bitten but her actions frighten people.
The reason we need to re-home this great dog is that she is not trustworthy around little children. She seems to be jealous of them and two years ago barked right in the face of my four-year old grand daughter. She did not bite but we fear that she might the next time. This Christmas, she was in her crate and when my 3 year old niece put her hand in the crate, Rosie barked and snapped. We have multiple young grand children and always crate Rosie when they are around. She will sometimes growl when she sees them. We live with three children under 4 and this means that Rosie spends too much time in her crate. Rosie is fine with our older grand children and their friends (they are 10 and 12
The first two years we had Rosie before she barked at my grand daughter, i felt that she was the best dog I ever had and I have had dogs for my entire life. Rosie deserves better than us. She spends too much time in her crate. A single adult or a couple who dont have young children would be perfect for her. She needs a big yard so she can run. Rosie needs a chance to be a great dog again.
