UPDATE She did okay with my dog after a VERY slow introduction on a walk and ALOT OF TREATS. She will require
I took in this dog because the owner said she needed to get rid of her same day I wont explain where the when from there as its a long story. Point is Im not her ideal home as 1) she is a still growing puppy that needs more exposure and that I cannot do with my current hours outside from the walks I do for her 2) I have a service dog on the way she is currently occupying her cage .all the that I am giving is the that she had given me. Im not sure if its 100% accurate Im just going off of what Ive noticed and what I what I was told. She seems to have an issue with my stepdad, which is not OK. Im gonna try to work on that with positive reinforcement but for right now she does have a slight fear towards men. But so far is taking treats from my boyfriend so we will keep working on trust building. Im looking into the Doberman rescue in Illinois, but I also want to help them in case I can find her a home so they dont have to. But I will be vetting people and I will be checking if you have Doberman experience and that you have a vet reference. This is not a dog for just anybody. This is a high energy dog that will need training.
Age:6 months
Gender: female unaltered
Good with: cats(but will chase if they run dogs, and children (told by owner but have confirmed cats with update once I do a introduction with my dog)
Potty trained: yes
Vaccinated:unknown
Tails and ears: both
So far she walks okay on a leash, she is slightly reactive to strange men on walks, she is fine around my cats till they start getting zoomies (cannot tell if she wants to chase to play or not but I dont risk it ) she is treat motivated will get in a crate if you use treats to get her in. Once in the crate she will whine for a minute but will settle .
I am in no rush so I will make sure she goes where she gets her needs met. Till then Ill be doing training with her and working on the behaviors that have came up .
