They were originally used for farm work including droving,sheep herding, cart pulling,and became one of the breeds to be used for police dogs,and guard dogs as well as being kept for pets they are very loyal to their family and protective of them as well great with children and can be used as a service dog this is a intelligent breed always willing to learn new things this is a breed that has to be socialized at an early age this breed does well at obedience,advanced training and protection training.
